Biotechnology Students Diving Into Hands-on Labs

My Project

This project will help improve student learning in STEM education because these materials will go directly toward my Biotechnology students and their inquiry through labs. A gel electrophoresis tray is essential for labs such as determining whether patients have a certain disease or comparing DNA between crime scene suspects. These are all labs that students can engage in with support from this project.

My students are incredibly excited about hands-on STEM opportunities and I want to give them the ability to engage in more labs that build on those skills.

Not only will the gel electrophoresis tray be a hands-on and interactive way for my students to learn about gel electrophoresis, but the composition notebooks will also allow students to keep track of their lab data. These interactive science notebooks are a tool we will use throughout the school year to track and reflect on our learning.
