Biomimicry Books for Curious Kids!

My Project

My curious and creative first graders are always full of questions. Why do geckos stick to walls? How do birds fly? Why do seeds spin like helicopters? These wonderings are the perfect starting point for exploring biomimicry, the amazing science of how humans learn from nature to solve problems!

By bringing a collection of kid-friendly biomimicry books into our classroom, I’ll be giving my students a window into a world where shark skin inspires swimsuits, ants teach us about teamwork, and plants help us design better buildings.

These books will spark their imaginations, build their STEM thinking, and show them that nature isn’t just something to observe, it’s something we can learn from!

With your support, these books will help my first graders grow their reading skills with engaging nonfiction and picture books, make real-world connections between science, engineering, and nature, dream up their own inventions inspired by animals, plants, and ecosystems, and develop curiosity and respect for the natural world.

Let’s help these little innovators look to the trees, bees, and seas for big ideas. Thank you for helping us bring the wild world of biomimicry into our classroom library!
