My Project

The biology students in my rural, Title 1 high school struggle to visualize various cellular processes such as cell transport, osmosis, DNA replication, transcription, translation, and protein synthesis. These concepts are very abstract and since they occur on the microscopic level, students are unable to visualize the process happening within their own cells.

The various interactive origami models are more engaging and will provide a visual representation of complex structures and interactions within a cell more actively and realistically than simply reading about the processes from a textbook.

I am hoping to build an excitement for labs and experiences in my biology classroom. I also believe very strongly that having lab experiences increases test scores. Your donation will make my job so much easier. Teaching is incredibly fun and rewarding when we have the tools we need to be successful.
