My Students

My students are excited about learning. They are curious and ask lots of questions about the world around them. Our school has a French Immersion program. My students spend half a day with a French teacher learning a new language. I have two classes that switch midday. The students love learning a new language and culture.

My students love to read and experience new books!

We enjoy learning through both fiction and nonfiction stories. My students are deep thinkers and always amaze me with their insights on what we are learning. They love to use technology and learn more about the world around them.

My Project

Each year my class does a Biography Wax Museum. The students select a historical figure to read and learn about. Using the information learned, they write a biography about that person, focusing on their positive contributions to the world. At our wax museum, the students dress as the person they have chosen to write about and they pretend to be them. They come to life when a button is pushed in front of them and give facts about the person's life. This project integrates reading, writing, and speaking. The students love learning about someone new and they pull out many lessons about how they want to live their own lives.

These biographies will provide my students with more options for books to read for our wax museum.

They will also introduce them to people that they may not have heard of before. These books will also become part of our classroom library for the students to read all school year. They provide high engagement and my students love the few biographies that we already have in our classroom.
