My Students

My students are smart, motivated, hardworking, and eager to learn. They come from a variety of backgrounds, places both near and far, and for some immigrant students our classroom in Jamaica Queens is their first introduction to school in America.

My students are determined to succeed, despite the limited resources available to them in our inner city public school.

They have great aspirations, and it is my job to provide them with meaningful learning experiences and teach them skills that they can transfer to college and careers in their futures.

My Project

Microscopes are critical instruments in the study of biology, granting students access to the microscopic world of cells and cellular processes. In the early days of microscopes, scientists doubled as artists - illustrating the natural world.

Today, with the use of digital microscopes, my biology students have the opportunity to document their microscopy labs and create digital art and videos along the way!

Students will be able to create digital portfolios of their microscope work and share their explorations with the world through social media. The donation of digital microscopes to my classroom will foster learning in a varity of subjects including biology, technology, art, and media studies.
