My Project

My students are enrolled in the Life Skills program in a school where most of our students are from low-income families. Each student experiences a significant disability, and no two students are alike. Many of my students have challenges regulating their emotions, and sometimes things made of plastic are easily broken.

The classroom my students will return to in the fall needs a fresh, new look, and items that are not easily broken.

My students will be happy to see fabric bins with lids to keep their daily work in, as well as new markers to replace the worn-out markers we are using now.

The materials in this project will help students feel pride in their surroundings and the objects they use every day. Being responsible with these objects will encourage them to be responsible in their homes, recreation centers, and supported employment jobs as they become adults.
