This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
As a teacher at a low-income school district, my students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. Despite the many challenges they face, they show up every day with a positive attitude towards learning. I am looking to provide as many learning opportunities for my students that I can during their time with me and seeing their excitement as they learn new things through their readings in Scholastic magazine. Without these resources in the classroom, many students would never know the world that surrounds them.
My Project
It is important for students to be able to stay organized. Many of the things we do in the classroom require us to work on a packet of papers. These papers end up disorganized, torn, or thrown away because staples can only hold paper together for so long (and let's face it, kids are rough with their things). If I was able to bind their work together in a booklet form, students would be able to keep their work organized and it would also benefit me because I would be able to grade their work in a quick and organized way.
