Binders Keepers, Sixth Grade Peepers

My Project

I teach 6th grade math, science, and FACS. This is my FAVORITE age. They're working hard on figuring themselves out and learning how to learn. This is a crucial age for working on organization and work ethic. When they aren't armed with the proper tools, this age will fizzle out quickly and simply give up. I want to arm them with as many tools as I can, and teach them to properly use their time and space to be successful.

The mailboxes will be used to house a new math binder system we are creating for our students to teach them how to organize and look back at notes.

Binders are bulky and awkward for anyone, much less a sixth grader learning to transition from room to room. I want them to have access to their math notes at any time, but not have to store them. They will be consistently responsible for a math folder, while the binders will be in my room stored in these mailboxes for them.

The light filters will be used to tone down the lighting in my room. I have a plethora of natural light from large windows. I tried to choose themes that compliment my life science curriculum while also creating a calming ambiance.
