Binders and Book Bins Bring Brilliance!

My students need book bins to store their independent reading books, a thin binder to organize their quick writes, and tabs to keep their reading work in order.

My Students

Research shows that having choice in the books you read is extremely important for literacy development in young children, just as it is for adults. How would you feel if you went into a library and the librarian told you the book that you had to check out?

Ninety-nine percent of my students receive free lunch and are African-American.

Every year, my students come to me eager to improve their reading and math skills. Every year, they give it their all and grow multiple grade levels in the time we have together. I am excited to watch all that my students will be able to accomplish this year!! I know that just like years past, they will come to me ready to work hard and learn all they can. Therefore, it is my responsibility to make sure that I am ready for them!!

My Project

We will store students' reading logs (where they record their reading, in order to be prepared to share what they are reading with others), quick writes as well as graphic organizers, which will be used to practice important reading comprehension skills with their books! All of the supplies will aid in the implementation of research-based strategies to improve children's reading levels. The book bins will allow my students who transition between math and reading to have their own personally book space so that there isn't valuable time wasted searching for that perfect book on their reading level. These supplies will not only help my students this year, but year after year, as I re-use the bins and binders. My students need book bins to store their independent reading books, a thin binder to organize their quick writes as well as tabs to keep their reading work in order.

These donations will allow me to provide more individualized instruction to my students, allow them to start working on their organizational skills as well as provide a space to save their work so that we can provide accurate data conversations with their parents to make sure we are reaching all of our classroom educational goals.
