This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My school is a pre-k through 5 neighborhood Title I school with approximately 350 students. One hundred percent of our students receive free breakfast and lunch daily. Approximately 97% of our students are economically disadvantaged with about 13% of our population considered to be homeless.
Despite the struggles our students face on a daily basis, our students come to school every day ready to learn.
As a Multi-classroom Leader, I have the distinct pleasure of working with every student in grades 3-5 on a daily basis and they never cease to amaze me! I want to do whatever I can to continue to instill and enhance their love of school and learning.
My Project
The best way for anyone to become a better reader is to READ! We are working hard to instill a love of reading in our students in an effort to help them become better readers. These book bins will help organize classroom libraries so students can see and shop for their Just Right Books quickly and easily. With these bins, we will be able to organize the books in our library by genre, reading level, and interest levels. We will then be able to teach our students how to use the bins to shop for just right books to read.
