I would like for my students to become excited about science and stay excited about science.
We are a rural school with 65% of students receiving free/reduced lunches.
They have limited experiences outside of their community. Most have blue-collar parents with limited knowledge of the importance of science. I would like to encourage my students to have futures in the science field.
My Project
Comedian/scientist Bill Nye stars as the genial host of this popular, fast-moving show designed to get kids interested in the science of everyday, and some not-so-everyday, things. On a full range of subjects, including ecology, biology, chemistry and physics, Nye gives an easy-to-understand, yet informative lesson that both kids and their parents can enjoy.
My students will benefit from this donation by hearing the material delivered in another way by an actual scientist, not just their teacher.
The more different ways we are explained things, the more likely we are to remember and understand them.
