My students need Bill Nye, he has the equipment and resources to show and explain science in ways a classroom teacher could never.
We are a rural school with 65% of students receiving freeor reduced-price lunches.
They have limited experiences outside of their community. Most have blue-collar parents with limited knowledge of the importance of science. I would like to encourage my students to have futures in the science field.
My Project
My students need Bill Nye the Science Guy DVDs, a seafloor spreading kit, and a set of protist slides. With these resources, my students will be able to actually see protists with slides and explore them in the lab. They will also be able to investigate sea floor spreading. Protists are microscopic, are hard to visualize, and so is sea floor spreading.
These valuable resources will enable my students to "see" microscopic organisms and explore the depths of the ocean floor.
Both of these concepts are hard for students to visualize.
