This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My bilingual students are brilliant and capable. Our school is located in an under-resourced area, so sometimes we need extra support with basic items. My co-teachers and I created a wonderful unit of study about indigenous storytelling and myths. We had a hard time finding examples of indigenous myths in Spanish and our goal this year was to have more quality examples to help them create their own myth. The ones on this list are beautiful and will help our students have mentor texts to develop reading, writing and creativity. I cannot wait to see the magical stories they will create this year. A document camera, a speaker and snacks will help delivery of classroom lessons and meet basic needs of students at recess and on testing days.
