Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are the best kids a teacher can ask for. They are full of curiosity, courage, and hope. They do not let anything stop them from their goals. They love to learn, and they work very hard.
This year has been a hard year for my students as many of them were impacted by Hurricane Harvey.
Some of them are homeless and have left all their belongings behind. Regarding the circumstances, those kids manage to come to class every day with smiles on their faces, willing to do their best.
My Project
I teach two bilingual classes. We are currently in need of more Spanish books for our classroom library. My Spanish classroom library is very limited. At this time of the year the kids have read all my Spanish library! I would like to be able to provide a bigger variety of books for them to read in both Spanish and English.
My students love to read books like “The Diary of a Wimpy Kid” and “La Casa del Arbol” book collections.
They have made comments of how much they enjoy reading those book collections and they wish we could have them all. If my project is funded my students will be able to feed their brains and become successful bilingual readers.
