This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
This course will help me meet the requirements for my Bilingual Certificate in the individual pathway certification program. This certification will further develop my teaching toolbox.
I'm a science teacher who plans around STEM and hands-on activities but sadly without this certification I cannot teach the English Language Learners at my school and that’s our biggest population,
The course explores the historical, political, social, and legal foundations of bilingual education in the United States. Specifically, the theory and research that inform policy and practice in bilingual education will be examined. Topics for consideration include approaches to multicultural education and its relationship to bilingual education; various program models of bilingual education; approaches to bilingual education evident in U.S. schools.
