Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students struggle with learning at school because of limited English vocabulary and content knowledge. These bilingual books will be part of their take-home library.
Reading these bilingual books with their families will develop English vocabulary and deepen conversations at home.
The children are excited to bring home their books to read with their Spanish-speaking parents. The books help the whole family learn more English! The content in the books give the families topics to discuss which also enhances the students' school readiness. Books of fairy tales, academic content, and with other topics intentionally chosen for developing background knowledge are included in this book list.
