Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I teach high school English, and am looking for books written by Latinx authors that I can introduce into my curriculum so my students can see themselves in the stories they read.
Great stories transcend language barriers.
My school is a small art school in Downtown Los Angeles. Most of our students are poor, and many are immigrants or children of immigrants. There are so many wonderful stories I want to give them. This book was originally written in Spanish, then translated to English. This printing contains both the original Spanish and the translated English, and I think it would be a fabulous way to help my newcomer students develop their English skills and see them represented in the books they read at school.
