My Project

In Washington state, over 11% of public school students speak little to no English. This number can double in the lower primary grades. Imagine visiting your school library and there is not one book in your native language or that represents you. For many students this is the case.

In our library, we want to support our diverse student body with books in both their native language and English.

This past year we incorporated many books in Spanish, some of which were bilingual. Now we are ready to expand our bilingual section with books in the following languages: Arabic, Dari, Farsi, Russian, Tagalog, and Ukrainian. These books enable students to view their native language and English side-by-side. Help us to support our Multilanguage learners.
