Biking the Sacred Valley of the Incas

Help me give my students a mountain bike trip through the Sacred Valley of the Incas. This portion of their field trip will take them up close and personal to Incan ruins and an ancient salt mine.

My Students

My students are from a remote rural part of Alaska with a high percentage of Alaska Native students, where there is high-poverty and unemployment. Our school is a Title I school, with over 90% of the families in our school falling below the poverty line.

Despite their sometimes rough background, these students are incredibly resilient and positive, and, just like kids anywhere, have a bright hope for the future and a love of learning!

My 14 kindergarteners are like a little family, they look past color, and just enjoy being together. They love coming to school, we have so much fun together, and they are making wonderful progress this year!

My Spanish Club kids are 8 dedicated hard working exemplary students who are taking High School Spanish and collecting donations for our service exchange trip in May. At the same time they are keeping their grades up, fundraising for our trip, and playing sports. They are busy, but they are dedicated to our club and to exploring the world!

My Project

Our Spanish Club at THS in rural Alaska has been working super hard to earn money for their exchange trip to Peru. They have gathered donations of school and craft supplies to share with their sister school and would like to have this biking excursion on their itinerary.

With your help, they will be able to ride mountain bikes through the Sacred Valley of the Incas in Peru and experience first hand the culture they have been studying!

These students come from a Title I school with over 90% of the families below the poverty line. They have worked hard all year to raise money, picking up trash, washing cars, stacking wood, shoveling snow, selling concessions, helping at school events, having bake sales, and lots more. They need your help to be able to do some of the tours on their field trip that they would like to do, like biking the Sacred Valley. Thank you very much for supporting rural Alaskan students in their desire to experience another culture and practice their Spanish!
