My Students
I currently teach physical education at two public elementary schools K-6.My schools are 100 percent free and reduced lunch. One of my schools is located in the rural part of our community where there are not a lot of safe roads to ride on. My other school is in town where they have access to bike lanes.
Bike safety is an education that students can use through out their lives.
I am reaching over 1000 students through my bicycle education. My bikes have taken a lot of wear and tear and could really use some new bike tubes. I teach bicycle safety to these schools. These lessons help keep them safe on the roads and gives them their own independence.
My Project
We currently have three bicycle fleets in our county school district that are being used year round. They take a lot of wear and tear and the bicycle tubes are needing to be replaced due to a serious weed problem, goat heads. The Bell Standard tube will fit perfectly with our larger bikes that we use for the upper elementary grades.
We fill the tires twice a year with slime to help slow down the wear and tear on the tubes but the goat head goes right through the tire.
Our students look forward to their bicycle safety education every year. Please help support their education.
