This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My students have special needs. Some have motor delays, some have cognition delays, and all have visual impairments. Along with their other various needs, many of them are also non-verbal.
A communication device such as the BIGmack offers my students a way to participate in class activities; it gives each of them a voice.
Such devices are instrumental in helping my students learn. Sadly, they are also prohibitively expensive. My families simply cannot afford to make such a purchase, yet the devices are so very needed. I would love to offer these two BigMacks to families of limited means so they can support their child's efforts at communication, and so that the child can participate more fully in family and classroom activities.
