My Students

My students all have varying degrees of visual impairments and are mainstreamed into regular education classrooms. So much of their learning is done on the computer. Unfortunately, everything is getting smaller (iPads, Laptops, etc.), and my kids need bigger in order to see!

The majority of my students are from low income families in a Title I school.

They require accommodations, such as large print and magnification devices, to complete the general education curriculum. They want to be like everyone else and want to be independent!

My Project

My students need large screen monitors to be able to see textbooks, tests and other materials on the computer with enlarged font. Having a larger monitor will allow them to access textbooks, district and statewide tests, informational websites, games, etc. in a large enough format to see comfortably. They require enlarged font and accessibility options to be able to see the screen. The larger monitors will allow them to see more than just a portion of the screen at a time.

Having the appropriate technology evens the playing field for the visually impaired student and allows them to participate in all of the activities in the same manner as their normally sighted peers.

Technology leads to independence and success for children with visual impairments!
