This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My high school students bound into the classroom full of curiosity and craving to learn. Our population of 1400 students is diverse with minority groups comprising 96% of our school. Though our school is underfunded and has its challenges, my students have expressed a lot of gratitude for what they are learning in my classes. I am motivated to give them the best possible education so that their learning is memorable and joyful.

The gratitude of my students makes me want to work harder to give them the best education possible.

In order to prepare them for the age they live in, I do my best to expose them to current practices in our modern world. To do this, I need your help to provide materials for hands-on biology experiments.

My Project

My high school landscape used to be bleak. It is in an urban area and had a lot of asphalt. But through your help we have greened some of our spaces and it has made a world of difference. So now I want to provide feeder areas to attract birds to our campus.

I want to establish bird feeder stations on our campus for regular observations and to engage our biology students in citizen science.

Establishing permanent feeder stations will help our students become familiar with the different species of birds in our area and make direct observations about their feeding habits and behavior. It also enables them to collect data to contribute to Audubon.
