I teach a life skills class of 3rd to 6th graders. My wonderful, young people vary in ability to function in the world of typical child. All my students have the energy and the drive to learn.
It is our goal to foster independence so students can achieve a meaningful academic and functional experience so they may become active members of our community.
We provide various learning experiences throughout the day that will address each students individual needs. Students build confidence along with knowledge.
Our life skills are a true inspiration to others.

My Project
Today's society has technology at their fingertips. Most people are able to take advantage of all it has to offer without a thought. The seemingly simple act of logging in or using a mouse or even a touch screen is a challenge for my students. We'd love to provide daily practice of number of skills that will help the students function easily within the general education and outside in the community. With the trend to use tablets and notebooks we no longer have a desktop available to the life skill students within their class. Desk tops are easier to use and have many features. They are less expensive and less likely to become damaged.
Our students utilize the computer to access a number of websites that support our life skills curriculum.
They are able to complete assessments and review units of study. We practice searching for topics of interest, locating directions, recipes and pictures of things we love. Students enjoy using the keyboard or voice to text to help enter our personal information.
