My Students

I teach an amazingly diverse group of 5th Grade learners! I teach students with Cognitive and Specific Learning Disabilities, Autism, behavioral challenges, children who live in poverty, bilingual children, children with Native American background, children who love learning, and children who come to school just to be around people who care about them.

They are an amazing group to work with!

It amazes me that even when things are tough, these kids don't give up! We may all come from very different backgrounds but in our classroom, we are a family!

My Project

Right now, we can only comfortably fit 2-3 people at a table in our 5th grade classroom because our chairs are so large. We typically work in groups of 4-6, so this creates a daily issue. One or more students are always left to kneel or sit outside the semi-circle. I saw another teacher had purchased these stools and was amazed that 5-6 students could easily sit around one table!

We do SO much group work and the students learn more than just content in these groups!

They are learning skills that will benefit them for the rest of their lives. Help me give them a way to all fit at the table by providing stools!
