This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
To be blunt: our school is under-resourced. 100% of my students qualify for free and reduced price lunch. There is about $200 in the budget for my classroom. It can be extremely difficult to provide all the necessary items for a warm, fun, and engaging classroom when these factors are at play.
First-grade is my favorite; everyone is so silly and curious, and I always get so many hugs!
Despite the challenges, my kids are dreamers, thinkers, talkers, and do-ers! They come to school every day ready to learn and grow. I am so proud of their resilience and tenacity. I am so lucky to work with them every day!
My Project
Headphones are a hot commodity in the 21st century classroom. With the integration of technology into everyday learning, headphones become a non-negotiable.
The use of EdTech tools is an essential component of boosting student achievement in my classroom.
My students use a variety of EdTech tools throughout the day-- Lexia, Dreambox, Reading A-Z, and Zearn-- all of which require a pair of headphones.
I have spent, quite literally, hundreds of dollars on headphones over the years. Finding durable, long-lasting, quality headphones can be a difficult task. My goal with this project is to secure 30 pairs of great headphones that I won't have to replace multiple times a year.
