Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students know that our class is a safe space, one of peace, kindness, growing, and learning. Students come from all academic abilities, socioeconomic statuses, ethnic backgrounds, and home lives. We pool all of our knowledge and resources to create a classroom of acceptance and positive thinking.
We live in an ever-changing world.
Anxiety and depression are on the rise. With the technology used every day, it is difficult to get students to stay focused in class. I am doing everything in my power to provide for the students I love so much.
My Project
Students love books that they can relate to. What better books than these!
With authors such as Julia Cook, students will learn strategies to become successful with focus, gratitude, integrity, mindfulness, and more.
I plan to read these books aloud during social-emotional lessons and keep them in our classroom library. Students can choose to read these books on their own, and will even be encouraged to take them home to read to parents and siblings.
I do believe that including these books in our classroom repertoire will bring some wonderful positive outcomes.
