My Students
My class is full of personality, so much so that we have our own language. I can make one look, or even crack a corny joke and they totally get it. We are certainly one team and one family. They deeply care for their teammates and each scholar has a unique personality that adds to our classroom culture in many ways. The level of zest they bring to learning each day is very inspirational. I learn something new from this bunch each and every day.
Who knew 6 year olds could be so sophisticated, witty and independent?
Well, that pretty much sums up my group of scholars. They show grit and curiosity each time I challenge them with new skills. They understand why we are learning and where each skill will take us. Each of them brings a host of experiences and new ideas. I'm technically their teacher, but little do they know, the lessons I've learned from them are invaluable and will last me a lifetime.
My Project
This year my class is in for a sweet surprise as they move up to first grade and many of them do not know it yet, but I will be their teacher again. We are moving up from Kinder to first grade together! Unfortunately this means adapting to a very tiny classroom for my large class. My kids will need storage at their seats to keep all of their materials and supplies, this way we are able to utilize other parts of the classroom for learning based centers. In addition, small group intervention was a great way to attack our reading goals last year and we need a mobile white board for that instruction to take place anywhere in the room without disrupting the rest of the learning environment.
Being their Kindergarten teacher wasn't good enough, I wanted to be their first grade teacher too #bestclassever !
Our gains in guided reading intervention last year were awesome and I want to continue that work with my students again. My hope is that their experience in first grade is just as fruitful and exciting as our time was together in Kindergarten last year. To make that happen, my students are in need of some very basic storage and instructional materials in our new classroom space. With these materials, our space will stay clean and organized, so that we can maximize our learning space and move about the classroom with ease.
