My Students
My classroom is compiled of 28 unique children. 5 students in my class are diagnosed with an Autism Spectrum Disorder. I am one of two classes in my school piloting a program with students who would normally be in a substrate day school due to their behaviors.
Many of my students come from low income households.
My classroom is their home away from home. I hope to grow my classroom materials that will support both students with and without IEPs.
My Project
My students love our daily reading block. Big books enthrall them in expanding their literacy. I read to my students daily about topics like problem/solution, big/small moments, and identifying Authors Craft. Big books aid in pulling students into the story. After our lesson the students explore the book, and take turns reading to one another.
A big book holder will aid independent student and whole group reading.
I hope this stand will motivate my students, as well as make handling the book easier. This holder will also prevent the pages from ripping, ensuring the books will be around for many years to come.
