Big Books for Big Readers
My students need big books with puppets to help with reading comprehension and retelling.
The elementary school we attend is a place where students want to come to. Every visitor feels welcomed and the teachers here love their students. Our district is special in that every single student is offered to eat a free breakfast.
My students are a fun energetic group of 1st graders who have learned so much throughout this year.
They are excited to come to school eager to learn regardless of how hard some of their home lives are they know that they are safe at school and they can have fun and be a kid.
Students come into the classroom and one of the first jobs they do is pick where they would like to sit. Followed by a morning meeting where they get to share with the class different class building topics. This gives them a safe place to share and brings our class closer together daily.
The Big Book Storytelling Complete Activity Kits will ensure my students are engaged during literature centers. This center will help students with reading skills such as retelling, sequencing, and a big book to match. This pack comes with 8 complete sets that students can use throughout the year.
Big Books help students to be able to apply their reading strategies learned in class to decoding words on an independent level.
We have also requested an additional big book pack with grade level books to help students to retell stories heard in class. All of the books we are requesting are engaging and needed for our First Grade Class.
DonorsChoose makes it easy for anyone to help a classroom in need. Public school teachers from every corner of America create classroom project requests, and you can give any amount to the project that inspires you.
