My students need to all be able to see a big book for shared reading time.
This project expired on June 20, 2018.
Hooray! This project is fully funded
We are a group of 21 eager to learn kindergarten students with various learning styles and abilities! Most of my kindergarten students have never been in a formal school setting until this year! Although our school is not a Title I school, I do have students from various socioeconomic backgrounds who are considered economically disadvantaged. I also have many students whose parents serve in the military, as our school is close to a military base. We are also a very diverse group of learners! Some students are reading and writing, while some students are still working on identifying letters and sounds.
During our hour long reading block, we are now having Kindergarten students read together during shared reading time with the use of big books. Unfortunately, most of my big books are stored away in my closet because of the lack of storage space in my current classroom.
I would love to have a big book holder in our classroom to use during shared reading time so students can and read our big books together!
The big book holder allows a space for all of my books to be stored and gives me easy access to them. It also allows all students to see the book and become involved in practicing skills such as sight words, directionality in reading and blends and digraphs.
