Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our students come from varied cultural, educational, and economic backgrounds. Most are novice musicians, with a few currently taking private lessons in piano and violin. They are all eager to learn both vocal and instrumental music.
Our school is small, but there is a sense of community and family.
They have grown up together through the school, and have built the sense of pride within themselves and the community. They are keen to learn about their state and country. My goal is to introduce them to a world of music they may not otherwise hear.
My Project
Grid block area rugs work wonderfully well for K-2 students, but when those bodies start growing, space becomes limited and confining. For larger students in 4th and 5th grade, stools and seating pads will keep them from literally being on top of each other, thus alleviating many behavior issues, as well. Stools will allow me to space them out more comfortably.
An area rug limits how I seat students in various lesson plans that require them to be seated in other arrangements, such as a horseshoe, circle, or in stations.
Having the stools and pads will enable me to have flexibility in my lesson presentations.
