This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students possess many unique qualities. They are creative, thoughtful, helpful, and hold an individual drive to succeed. They self-reflect on a daily basis, practice to improve in any area they seem to struggle with, and most importantly, they support one another through guidance and collaborative conversations. We’re not just an entity that takes up space in an educational facility. We are a family and support each other through our educational experiences. Money is what we lack to make learning easier.

My Project

We use anchor charts to help support student learning in all subject areas. Anchor charts when big and colorful help younger minds and EL learners retain information longer.

Our current Math, ELD and ELA programs call for a lot of number strings, grammar and vocabulary accessibility.

The anchor charts that we create as a class not only assist with knowledge retention, but also provide resources at arms reach. Many of my students look back to the anchor charts that were created in prior lessons to help guide current writing, reading and mathematical reasoning. Anchor charts are beneficial in classroom settings, but become an economical burden on the teacher when materials run out of availability.
