Bicycle Repair in an Urban Community

Help me give my students the tools and equipment they need to practice and learn basic bike repair and maintenance!

My Project

These tools and materials will be used to teach bicycle repair and maintenance at our school in Chicago, Illinois.

Students will bring their own bicycles and learn to: change a tire, repair a flat, adjust brakes and shifting, and fix a broken chain.

Many of the tools from our robotics program will be used like allen keys, socket wrenches, and screwdrivers, but there's a few bicycle specific tools we need and that's what I've requested here.

Students will get hands-on experience in bike repair. Trade schools need support and students love working with their hands. Students can repair other's bicycles and learn from current bike mechanics what they like about their job.

Lindblom's student body is 60% Black, 30% Latino, and 60% low-income.
