My Students
We are changing communities and it feels so good. In our community students struggle with content, however they have tasted success and they like it! Our school is a turnaround campus that recently received a B rating and five academic distinctions that we are so proud to celebrate. It brings my heart joy to watch them work toward their academic goals with such vigor. They are growing and I do not want it to stop. I have always worked with students from high risk communities and I find fulfillment in contributing towards positively altering their academic trajectory. With ten years of teaching experience, I have learned to embrace learning styles and tactics that allow all of my student’s opportunities to be successful. As we grow, I find it imperative to celebrate our students long and short term goals.
My Project
B.G.E. MVP's is a cleverly worded name for Student of the Month. I began funding this project myself in September and I could use some support to finish the year. We invite the parents to a breakfast and celebrate the students with a vivid presentation. It's a great component to bridge home and family. Our kids deserve to be celebrated for making positive choices.

M.V.P breakfast has become a welcomed addition to our school's climate and culture. The parents and students are so excited when we reveal the students on our display board and their names are announced on the intercom. I find joy in creating those moments for my students and I'd like to continue this initiative until the end of the year.
