Beyond the Walls of Our Room

My students need 8 iPod touches to improve their literacy skills, their writing skills, and their mathematic skills using various apps available.

My Students

Remember the excitement of field trip day? Now imagine if you were able to take a field trip every week or even every day. How would that impact the way you learned?

My students are the type of students who learn best when not being told "sit still", "do this", or "read chapter 1".

They thrive on using technology in the classroom. They are part of the generation of students who can operate a computer better than their parents.

My Project

By providing access to 8 iPod touches, I will be able to use my students' fascination with technology to help engage them in learning. I will also be able to open up their eyes to move them beyond our classroom walls. I plan on doing this by using Google Cardboard. I plan on creating a "virtual" Magic School Bus that will take my students beyond their text book. I plan to find other apps beyond just Cardboard to allow students to listen to our novels, practice their spelling skills, work on their math fluency, and be able to differentiate their learning.

Having access to technology will improve my classroom by allowing my students to experience life outside of our 4 walls.

It will open up a life time of opportunities for them to explore. It will help provide more options for STEM and STEAM learning. It will break the barriers between just looking at a 2D picture and exploring a 3D representation. It will allow my students to become problem solvers and allow them to build upon skills they already have to help advance them in their education.
