Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach at an alternative mid-high school. Our student population is made up of "at-risk" students who have their own unique challenges and stories. Students have chosen to come to this school as their second chance to an education.

As teachers we are able to create a unique bond with our students since we are a small school.

We have taken a different approach to education in how we teach and interact with our students. We are making great strides in changing our students lives and helping and guiding them towards new and more productive futures.

My Project

To many students, they are just cooking, but I see collaboration, measuring, nutrition, following directions and more.

Students in our school know that you go to the store to get the food, however they don't know how the food went from the ground or animal to the cans on the shelves.

Students will be able to grow their own food, take care of their plant, harvest the food and then learn new ways to cook and prepare the food. Left overs can be sent home to kids to have in a meal. Students grow some starter plants to sell for more supplies.
