An important rite of passage for many students is the completion of one phase of their educational career and the transition to another. Traditionally, these shifts have been marked by a variety of rituals to signify their importance. One such ritual is the 8th grade social event to celebrate the milestone of finishing middle school.
Help encourage our socioeconomically disadvantaged students to reach the goal of graduating high school by supporting their achievement of finishing middle school.
For many students, the celebration of their accomplishments by their teachers and peers is an unforgettable moment that will bolster them through their high school experience. The theme of this year's dance is built around this idea of their destinies being "Beyond the Stars" and we are requesting a laser stars projector, divider, and various other star-themed decorations for this event.
The dance also provides leadership opportunities for the students who serve on the dance advisory committee. These students represent their cohort and determine several planning aspects of the dance.
We want to encourage our students that no matter where they come from, their goals are achievable. To that end, we would like to provide and end-of-year celebration that is "out of this world."
