My Project
I want my students to be excited about reading! I believe that the book, "Wonders" will keep them engaged and eager to learn! This book will allow my class to step outside of short stories in our curriculum textbooks. I see a lot of my students reading graphic novels, but I want to expose them to reading novels. I don't want them to be intimidated by books with just words. I believe that reading a novel that is relatable to them (as 5th graders) will provide a lot of life lessons and excitement towards reading.
This novel also pairs well with a movie.
This can also be a great way to differentiate instruction and improve their reading comprehension skills. Students will be able to deepen their understanding by comparing characters and viewpoints from the movie and the book.
