Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am a homeroom teacher of 6th grade. We are a title one school with a high number of students who live in poverty. Included in my class are special education students, handicapped students, as well as English Language Learners. Many families do not place emphasis on reading at home so this grant is an effort to encourage parents and kids to become more aware of their world by providing them the chance to have their own colorful and informative tool to use.
Many of my students do not live in homes that require structured homework time or a quiet place to work. This economy has added to the challenge as many families are now living in tight quarters as relatives move in together. It is my hope that this tool will encourage the parent and child to learn together and create a more globally aware family unit.
If given copies of Time For Kids. I would use it to make connections between parents and children. Together, they can begin to formulate opinions and attitudes of responsible stewardship and transfer their knowledge into the reading and writing arena with the eventual goal of writing and submitting articles to the school newspaper or Time For Kids magazine. You can make that happen!

TIME For Kids Magazine- World Report Edition w/ TFK Around the World (grades 4-6). Pricing is valid for orders placed after March 2008. After August 15th of current school year, pricing will remain in effect but TIME For Kids reserves the right to prorate issue quantity and free gifts.
