My Project

My middle school students are creative, unique and inspiring. However, they are living in a digital world, and social interactions are a struggle. Did you know, some students have never played a board game prior to entering school? Playing games helps foster the development of social skills, social communication, and problem solving skills. By offering my students the opportunity to play games, they will be able to practice necessary social skills, beyond just moving the pieces of the game.

I am requesting games which will assist my students to practice self-awareness, managing emotions and using self control.

Social conventions are a necessity to active participation in the school environment as well as the community.

The weaknesses in social conventions may also lead to deficits with conflict resolution during social situations. Students will learn to use their problem solving skills when a conflicts arise. Not only are games fun, but they are also beneficial. Playing games stimulates brain areas that are responsible for memory formation and complex thought processes for all ages. Games are a great way for students to be engaged in learning and have fun while at school!
