My Students

Our classroom is made up of 16 bright and eager learners. Many of my students come from difficult family situations, yet they come to my room smiling and enthusiastic. We are a co-taught classroom, which means we have a large number of students with individualized education plans. We have two teachers in order to meet all of our students' needs within the classroom. We have built an amazing classroom community, one that we are very proud of. These kids have worked hard collaboratively this year to develop skills of perseverance, kindness, and teamwork.

I have artists, gymnasts, future teachers and possibly the future president!

My Project

There is a strong link between visualization skills and future problem-solving skills in math. The key to solving word problems lies in the ability to create accurate mental representations. Students are not given enough opportunities in the early years to explore and understand these skills that are a foundation for future understanding.

In our current math curriculum, not enough time and attention is given to developing and practicing geometric and spatial reasoning skills.

There are not enough hands-on materials to truly make this learning stick. These are the skills that our kids need the most to accel in math and in future careers around science, technology, engineering, and math!!!

These hands-on materials will make this necessary for learning fun and engaging! They will allow my student's opportunities to grow in their math understanding! They will provide all students with a better understanding of skills that are often overlooked or rushed through.
