My Students

All of our students in Grades K-8 are in need of new Field Day games and equipment. An actual quote from a student this year: "I come to school for Field Day!" Our kids work so hard all year and deserve more! We are currently using an old box to toss bean bags in, chalk to write on our building for target practice and donuts for eating "Donuts on a string" My goal is to make Field Day physically challenging, yet fun and memorable! Let's do this!

My Project

These new materials for Field Day will positively benefit children in many ways as they are participating in various outdoor sporting and team-building activities. The bean bag toss activity relates to all ages for hand-eye coordination. The ribbons for our three-legged race will definitely encourage students to rely on their partners! Tug-O-War is a classic competition at our school. Not only physical strength, but the importance of learning how to lose gracefully or "being a good sport", is demonstrated in this activity! We have no parachute at this time so this new station will provide fun games such as "air conditioner" to cool off and "Merry Go Round" played with music is a great way for children to have fun while jumping as they turn their parachute handles. The rest of the materials requested will be used for our first obstacle course. This activity will test agility, endurance and encourage children to develop relationships and spirit as they cheer on their team members.

Throughout Field Day activities, staff will integrate our Ruler and Mood Meter program as they do all year.

This Ruler program helps children monitor their feelings and choose appropriate strategies to handle their emotions and actions.

This is a great event where our students, staff and families work together. My hope is that with your generous donation we can provide new opportunities for our students to build their self-esteem, relationships and improve their physical fitness levels and shine!
