it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
How can we best stop the cycle of bullying? One great way is to educate and empower students with the knowledge that will help them combat bullying.
I teach second grade to a wonderful group of students who are out-going and hard working.
We spend much of our day focusing on learning the important subject areas and work hard at being successful academically. But what happens to them outside the four walls of my classroom? It is becoming clear that even at this young, sweet age, bullying is evident. Unfortunately, they pick up on bad habits from their classmates, siblings and from their neighbors. Many of them are the victims and others are the perpetrators. This cycle can stop with the right intervention and classroom materials.
My Project
The Nookâs technology is a powerful tool that allows little fingers do big things! With just a simple touch of the screen, a child controls the story and can jump into an interactive adventure. It's an exciting book-reading experience for kids of all ages. Books can be added to the Nooks on an ongoing basis. As anti-bullying materials are added, they can be shared with students and teachers. The Nook will also help decrease bullying behaviors because all students can be seen as readers and it wonât matter what the cover of their book looks like. I am requesting a copy of âBullying in Schoolsâ to help students recognize bullying behavior and how to prevent it. I think this book will open up conversations in the classroom on what it means to be a friend to others.
This project will assist in teaching my students character skills that will last a lifetime.
We need to start standing up to bullies, and it all begins with knowledge. Please help my students reach the goal of a "bully-free zone" at school.
