Better With Boomwhackers

Help me give my students the amazing experience of the Boomwhackers! This instrument has helped so many of my students feel successful in music class.

My Students

My students come from all walks of life, and all appreciate music in their own way. I love hearing their ideas about what music means to them, as well as learning more about their tastes and wants in music and how to learn it. It’s always fun to share music from ‘my era’ and see what they think versus what they listen to and who they listen to today. I believe it is important to bridge that gap and learn to understand one another through musical expression.

My Project

These Boomwhackers and resources will make a difference in my students learning as they are very fun to hold and use, and everyone gets a chance to trade halfway through each song we work on. Playing these instruments helps students achieve learning targets such as performance, rhythm study, and working as a team. The Boomwhackers are a very fun yet simple way to introduce a new percussion instrument in a way that is friendly to all students of all abilities. To see many students succeed and want to succeed during this Unit has inspired me to create a solid unit that I can share with my colleagues and fellow music teachers.
