My students need puzzles and games including Sorry, 5 Second Rule Jr, and Charades so they can work collaboratively towards a goal and foster their social skills.
This project expired on August 18, 2018.
Hooray! This project is fully funded
I teach students in pre-kindergarten through fifth grade during their library time and also during an extra period called PLC. Our school is labeled Title I, which means that the majority of students have been identified as at-risk and have lower socioeconomic statuses. Half of the campus is composed of bilingual classes, and most of the students speak Spanish as their first language.
The students would benefit from collaborative activities where they can work on their social skills while having fun.
Students come to the library for an extra period called PLC time. During this time, students have choices on what materials they would like to use to create, build, make, or play. The variety of items available ensures that all students can find something they are passionate to work on.
Having puzzles and games in the makerspace area will encourage students to seek out others to work towards a goal or solve a problem.
They will be able to practice their social skills as they work together towards their goal of winning the game or solving the puzzle. The students will be able to see that teamwork is necessary.
Please help us by donating so that we can purchase the board games Sorry, 5 Second Rule Jr, Guess Who, Chutes/Ladders, Candy Land, Connect 4, Checkers, a fishing game, and Charades. Your donation will also help us get a set of speed cubes, a puzzle of the United States, a duck puzzle, an ocean floor puzzle, a busy neighborhood puzzle, and three paint by sticker puzzles.
