My students need flexible seating options to improve their attention during class instruction and to overcome some of the difficulties they have in learning.
The students I have the pleasure of servicing range in age from kindergarten to fifth grade because they receive instruction in reading, writing and math in my special education classroom. They have different abilities. Most of them have been identified with a Specific Learning Disability. Some of them are identified with Autism, ADHD, ADD and Other Health Impairments. Most of them have speech disorders, either receptive or expressive or both.
Active, energetic and eager to learn; my students are ready to overcome the daily challenges they face.
My Project
It has been noted the difference flexible seating makes in student learning. It provides them with a better opportunity to remain on task and therefore, improve their learning. The community I work with, needs special arrangements due to the fact of the predetermined conditions in which their brains operate.
The selected items will improve not only their learning experiences, but their lives, by allowing them to have a better venue to have access to their full potential.
My students have experienced so much frustration by the time they come to me, that I just want to really give them a chance to succeed by providing them with options they can benefit from. These items will really have a positive impact in their learning.
