it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students come from a wide variety of backgrounds originating from all of New York City's five boroughs. Most of the students come from low-income homes and so asking parents to contribute to expensive programs is difficult.
The school offers students the chance to develop skills for careers in health professions and so will enable them to prosper economically.
The majority of the curriculum is Science-focused and students only take one Arts-themed class. I aim to provide them with the best possible experience to enrich their understanding of music.
My Project
My students have been learning to make their own music through an online program called Soundtrap. In order to hear well and focus on their work, headphones are required. Kids have headphones but most of them are not compatible with the computers we have (their headphones are for iPhone X terminals). When class works at the same time, it is often a cacophonous soundscape which makes it difficult for students to really focus on their projects.
With quality headphones, students can gain a better grasp of the musical concepts we are learning in class and employ them creatively to make better music.
