We are a high school, special ed class in a 109-year-old high school that services those with low-income and Title I needs. Our class consists of incredible students with a wide range of abilities from autism to speech language impairments and cognitive delays.
Caring, enthusiastic, energetic, and curious are just a few words that describe my incredible students.
Every day is a new adventure when we enter our doors. We have quite an assortment of interests and skills and we like to see how many different ways we can incorporate them into our daily lives.
My Project
My project is simple. Binders, dividers, and pouches. As a teacher I strive to teach my students good study habits. This process starts with establishing routines within the first few days of entering a classroom and continues throughout the year.
Our daily routines are important to us and staying organized is a challenge.These materials will help us organize our daily work.
By using binders and dividers, we will be able to keep our papers organized in one place and keep our work space neat and tidy. Our binders will help us to know which work needs to be done immediately, finished, or kept as a reference for future assignments. The pouches will be used to contain pens, pencils, highlighters, and other tools needed for taking notes. In addition, they will be used to contain other small items used daily such as class “money” and activity pieces. My goal, as their teacher, is to teach my students academic skills as well as life skills such as organization and responsibility and these items would play an integral part.
