My Students
First grade is the best. We are spending our first (full day) year of school learning so much. We have 16 students in our classroom and we love learning together. We have many places in our classroom to work together and learn.
We are learning more than just reading and math Learning to work together, problem solve, and get along are important parts of our day.
Students in my classroom are inquisitive, compassionate, and creative. We love singing together, dancing, and playing as we learn. We love using technology to help us gain knowledge.
My Project
Learning to read is hard work. As the science of learning to read progresses, we have learned that using decodable texts are better than leveled readers for teaching young students to read. Students need to have decodable texts that follow the rules we are explicitly and systematically teaching.
During this unprecedented time of pandemic learning, students are struggling to learn to read and write fluently and skillfully.
The decodable books I have chosen will help my students learn to read following the science of reading using the skills I am teaching them.
My students need decodable texts to practice the skills they are learning to become better, fluent, and successful readers.
